Parramatta Art Sculpture Time-Lapse
The artwork and its installation
The 8-metre-tall, vertically positioned, mirror-polished cast aluminium sculpture shaped like a vintage 1960s Leyland Worldmaster bus, was created by Claire Healy and Sean Cordeiro and installed in Parramatta Mall. The film follows the installation over several weeks.
It honors the Parramatta Eels rugby league team using a historic team bus for meetings after the Cumberland Oval grandstand burned down in 1981. It also references local history like the "Flying Pieman" (William Francis King), early Lebanese migrant Rosie Bint Broheen, and etched love messages from the Parramatta Industrial School for Girls.
The time-lapse camera was mounted on a light pole and solar-powered. The finished film was commissioned by the Parramatta City Council.
