The construction stages in these NEXTDC updates

Designed by Greenbox Architecture and built by Multiplex, NEXTDC's data centre features a multi-level urban design bridging industrial and residential zones, height-limited due to the neighboring ABC transmission tower. It utilises a vertical blade facade and expressed service risers. The site is certified as an Uptime Institute Tier IV facility for fault-tolerant resilience and 100% uptime, and is engineered for GPU-intensive workloads featuring advanced high-density configurations, liquid-cooling capabilities, diesel generators, mechanical plant, and battery/UPS equipment. Located in Gore Hill, less than 10km from the Sydney CBD, S3 Sydney will be NEXTDC's largest development to date and will deliver more than 20,000m2 of IT space to organisations.

For an exterior wide shot, a time-lapse camera was securely attached to street poles and repositioned as the build progressed. Standard practice involves handling all negotiations with local councils and power companies to secure these advantageous vantage points. Another camera followed the action from the edge of the construction pit before being moved inside. Non-destructive mounts, including lightweight time-lapse cameras and industrial Velcro, were used on internal walls. Monthly drone updates were also captured, adding a dynamic aerial dimension to the regular construction progress reports.
