"Love's Lessons Learned" is a 110-minute feature film scheduled for cinema release in 2027. Followed by a 5 x 1-hour series for release in 2028.

Nicole Alexander from Alexander Productions auditioned over 900 talented under-21-year-old singers for a part in Dickinson & Sussman's new musical, "Love's Lessons Learned," which premiered at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2006.

The film opens with a then-twenty-one-year-old Julie Goodwin performing a beautiful new aria, then immersing us in the backstage thrill of post-performance congratulations.

From there, we flash back to where it all began: the rigorous process of auditioning over seven hundred singers in Sydney and Melbourne.

We witness the cast selection process and are introduced to the Production Designer, who steps us through the creative process of formulating the show's distinct visual style, while the Composer takes us through the creation of his brilliant new musical score.

As opening night rapidly approaches, we witness the performers in practice under the guidance of musical coaches and the Director, who unfolds the vision behind taking this fabulous new musical from script to stage.

Meanwhile, a frantic wardrobe department manages the construction of over two hundred ball gowns and costumes, and vocal coaches fine-tune the solo acts.
We follow the grueling rehearsal process as it transitions from intimate practice rooms to the grand scale of the main stage.

The orchestra tunes up, the sets are constructed, and the performances merge into a cohesive masterpiece, culminating in the magic of opening night and the remarkable achievement of a flawless new opera created in just six days.
